Saint Nicholas at the Topoľčianky National Stud

Saint Nicholas at the Topoľčianky National StudEven this year, the little ones did not miss the arrival of Saint Nicholas at the National Stud in Topoľčianky. Traditionally, it was preceded by a rich accompanying program. However, the biggest attraction for the audience was the fairy-tale story, which unfolded in the magical atmosphere of the approaching Christmas holidays right in the historic riding hall of the stud until the arrival of Saint Nicholas himself and his entourage.

The gates of the National Stud opened at 13:30 in the afternoon. In the historic stables, visitors could see all five breeds of horses kept at the National Stud, namely the Lipizzaner, Hucul horse, Shagya-Arab, thoroughbred Arab and Slovak warmblood. Despite the slightly rainy weather, many took the opportunity to ride in a carriage pulled by noble Lipizzaner horses and enjoy the magical atmosphere of the approaching most beautiful holidays of the year in a slightly unconventional way. A novelty was the opening of the Habsburg Christmas Town. Visitors could thus purchase various "hand-made" products from small craftsmen, or refresh themselves with quality coffee or punch. Illuminated decorations, a blanket of snow and the tones of Christmas songs created a unique atmosphere of the approaching Christmas.

The fairy tale started at 4 p.m. Under the direction of Boris Kodak, his wards in the vaulting department and other riders of the National Stud, an impressive story about a dreaming little girl was born, in which we were reminded of classic Christmas tales such as Cinderella, Arabella or Salt over gold. The devils from hell and the traditional fight between good and evil could not be missing either. The magical atmosphere of the entire program was complemented by impressive music and rich costumes. The St. Nicholas program culminated with the arrival of St. Nicholas and his entourage in a carriage pulled by beautiful Lipizzaner horses. The little ones willingly recited poems and were sweetly rewarded. Santa gave out packages to more than 120 children. Slovak television RTVS also showed interest in documenting this event and processed the whole event into an interesting report.

We believe that all visitors enjoyed this pre-Christmas afternoon and that we will see you again next year on this occasion. The Topoľčianky National Stud wishes all horse lovers a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year.
