
On the last weekend of May, the first of this year's sports events took place in the grounds of the National Stud - the May Prize show jumping of the Topoľčianky National Stud. More than 100 riding pairs from all over Slovakia and the Czech Republic came to test their strength, which resulted in almost 300 starts. Competitions were announced from the ZM level to S - 130 cm. As part of this event, one of the qualifying rounds of the Young Horse Criteria, which is covered by the Association of Horse Breeders in Slovakia, was held. The rich audience backdrop made the atmosphere of the entire event pleasant.
Price of the National Stud Farm Topoľčianky
Seven rider-horse pairs registered for the main prize on Saturday. The competition was a 130 cm show jumping course against the clock. With no faults and the best time, Igor Šulek on the horse Gambler from JK Ranč Palomino Bohunice won.
Chateau Topoľčianky Prize
The main competition on Sunday was an 'S' level show jumping course with a jump-off. Eight rider-horse pairs competed in the start. Five of them advanced to the jump-off. Igor Šulek defended his victory from Saturday, but this time it was the experienced mare Rosanna from Ranč Palomino Bohunice that demonstrated speed and carefulness over the jumps.
Young Horse Criteria
The Slovak Horse Breeders Association, cooperative, as a recognized breeding organization for the purpose of testing the performance abilities of young horses and utilizing the results for heredity control, announced in the 2025 sport season the Young Horse Criteria in show jumping for four, five, and six-year-old horses. The finals will take place as part of the Young Horse Championship in Trenčín – Nozdrkovce on October 4-5, 2025.
In the category of four-year-old horses, 4 rider-horse pairs started, and all completed a clear course at a height of 100 cm. The category of five-year-old horses was the largest, with 14 rider-horse pairs on the starting list, of which 7 completed a 110 cm course without penalty points. Six-year-old horses jumped at a height of 120 cm. Out of twelve registered, 5 pairs completed the course without faults.
