This year's Open Day, traditionally held every May 1st, celebrated its 25th anniversary. Pleasant spring weather combined with the prospect of a day full of experiences attracted more than 15,000 visitors to Topoľčianky.
The stud farm gates opened at 9 a.m. Right at the entrance, there was a newly opened souvenir shop where visitors could also purchase light refreshments in the form of cheese products from the National Stud Farm’s Salash and refreshing beverages. In addition to the historical riding hall, the public could also visit the hipology exhibition in Topoľčianky, which is regularly updated with important information and key events in the history of the stud farm. Besides more than 3,000 artifacts, visitors can view the carriage house with a collection of historical carriages and various rare harnesses. Also worth noticing is the exhibition dedicated to the first historical World Championships in equestrian disciplines held in Slovakia - World Driving Championship 2013.
The biggest attraction for visitors during Open Day is definitely the gala program. The National Stud and its guests showcase their breeding and sporting work.
The new breeding, sports, and tourism season was opened by Samuel Sokol, director of the National Stud, and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Richard Takáč. The event was also honored by the presence of many other distinguished guests – State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic Kristína Vavríková, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic Vladimír Vnuk, Director General of the Central Markets of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic Michaela Hrubý, and former President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gašparovič.
The atmosphere during the gala program was truly indescribable. The audience rewarded the performances of the riders and horses with enthusiastic applause.
A big thank you goes to those who visited us and showed their support. We wish everyone a successful breeding, tourism, and sports season, and we hope to meet like this again next year.
